Having vaginal discharge is normal it is your body’s way of keeping your vagina healthy and clean. But how do you know the difference from healthy and unhealthy discharge? Here are a few diagnoses that will let you know that you might have an unhealthy discharge. If this is the case you might want to see your doctor.

1. Vaginal yeast infection
2. Bacterial vaginosis
3. Trichomoniasis
4. Gonorrhea

Vaginal yeast infection

When you have a yeast infection your discharge is thick, white, and might look like cottage cheese. You  may also be experiencing vaginal itching, burning, soreness, and pain. Pain when urinating and when you are being intimate. These are signs you might have a yeast infection. You might also have redness, swelling, and a rash around the vulva.

Bacterial vaginosis
Your vagina isn’t supposed to smell like flowers we all know that but it also shouldn’t have a strong fishy odor. If your vagina smells and you are experiencing itching, swelling, and your discharge is white, yellow or gray then you should go talk to your doctor because you might have bacterial vaginosis. Which is a type of vaginal inflammation caused by the overgrowth of bacteria naturally found in the vagina.
